Indigo Tree Cotton Strip Cloth

Tree cotton grows on the 'silk cotton' tree, part of the kapok family. Because of its short staple, it is difficult to spin into a yarn. For this reason, this cloth is a blend of tree cotton weft with cotton or polycotton warp. The strips - handwoven up the River Gambia in Basse - are closely woven and very soft.
