Scotland here we come

See The Saturday Boy's new quilt

We always enjoy the friendly welcome we get at the Loch Lomond Quilt Show. This year, however, The Saturday Boy will be all alone there, as Magie will be teaching at the Kenya Quilt Guild in Nairobi.

Meanwhile, Bob has entered his second quilt effort into the men only 'Mission Impossible' competition.

World Textile Day - Scotland

An Exhibition of Costume, Creativity and Colour

When we launched our first World Textile Day in Wales back in 2009, we had no idea that so many of you would be interested enough to travel to our modest event. Well, after four World Textile Days - each one bigger and better - we can now say for sure, "You love World Textile Day."

So this year - with the help of our generous hosts Session Quilters - we're putting on our first World Textile Day Scotland!

Bridge of Allan Parish Church, 12 Keir St, Bridge of Allan, FK9 4NW.
10.00 am - 5.00 pm.

What happens when you give four talented and creative quilters a pile of colourful fabrics?

The answer is obvious: a challenge!

A Journey Through the Textiles of West Africa

In this unique collaborative exhibition, curators from the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery join forces with young people from Birmingham University to create a unique presentation of the museum's significant collection of West African textiles.

Supporting the exhibition, Magie Relph will contribute pieces from her own collection and will present a series of free hands-on workshops at the museum.

African Wax Print: A Textile Journey

We've been absolutely delighted with the reaction to our new book. It's been selling like crazy in Accra, Ghana and it is now available in these prestigious museums - The British Museum in London, The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam and the Afrika Museum in Berg En Dal, The Netherlands.

Here's a taste of what people have been saying.

I love this book. It is interesting, informative, funny, thought provoking. The Journal for Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. Spring 2011.

Magie and Bob took me on a magical journey to Africa through not only their words, but the images and inspirational textile art that illustrate their story. A fabric feast to make your mouth water. Jancie Gunner, stitched textile artist and author of Shibori for Textile Artists.

Using African Fabrics

Thanks to many of my loyal and creative customers, I've been collecting digital images of quilts, wallhangings, clothing, bags - you name it! - all demonstrating how you can use African fabrics in your work.

To show these images to the world, I've created a new page on the website: Using African Fabrics

I'm going to try (!) to keep this page up-to-date with new images as my customers create new and exciting things.
