Recycled glass beads, hand-made in Ghana

These colourful, powdered glass beads are hand-made using recycled glass in Ghana.

Some beads are made of layers of powdered glass mixed with dyes; others are painted with delicate designs.

I source my beads directly from the makers, like my friend Florence Marty of TK Beads near Accra. Also, I spend hours pouring over the fantastic, ever-changing array of beads in the bead markets at Krobo-Odumasi and Koforidua.
